Airpocalypse was an air band from Season 5 of America's Got Talent. It was eliminated in the Quarterfinals.

Background[]

Airpocalypse was formed by a dream-team lineup of members of the US Air Guitar Competition, where they have been rocking out at concerts, music festivals, and stadiums for over two years. With a blend of intense technical ability, expert music editing, and overwhelming rock star attitude, the boys of Airpocalypse are ready to break out. Bringing the humble art of Air Guitar to the national stage, Airpocalypse's mission is to prove themselves as talented artists. Airpocalypse band members include veteran international Air Guitarist Garth Donald (Chuck Mung), long-time competitor Jason Cheung (Air Guitar X), and newcomer Antonio Cervantes (Tony Tapatio). 1

Audition[]

Airpocalypse's audition in Episode 507 consisted of playing 'imaginary' guitars and drums to acoustic and heavy rock music in an "air guitar" routine. Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel all voted "Yes," sending the group to the Vegas Round.

Vegas Round[]

Airpocalypse was one of the Standby Acts in the Vegas Round. It was sorted into the "Bands" category. Its performance in Episode 512 consisted of "playing air instruments" to "Carmina Burana" and "Black Betty." Its audition was strong enough for the judges to send it to the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals[]

Airpocalypse's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 513 in Week 1 consisted of performing as an air band to "The Final Countdown" and "My Sharona." Howie Mandel was amazed by their performance and commented that there was an audience for them. Piers Morgan agreed with Howie. Sharon Osbourne believed they were great actors and great fun. Airpocalypse did not receive enough votes to finish in at least fifth place in America's Vote, eliminating it from the competition in Episode 514 along with Sally Cohn, instead of Nathaniel Kenyon.
