Darci Lynne was a singing ventriloquist from Season 12 of America's Got Talent. She was the winner of the competition, claiming the $1,000,000 prize and the headlining of a show in Las Vegas. Darci returned for America's Got Talent: The Champions. There, she was eliminated in the Preliminaries, finishing her night in second place. Darci then returned as a wildcard for the Finals. She was the runner-up in the competition. She returned again for America's Got Talent: Fantasy League, competing on Heidi Klum’s team where she was eliminated in the Semifinals.

Background[]

Darci Lynne Farmer lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on October 12, 2004. She is a ventriloquist. She first saw ventriloquism while at a church event, something clicked, and she decided she wanted to pursue ventriloquism. She asked her parents for a puppet to help her overcome her shyness, and on her tenth birthday, her parents surprised her with a puppet. Now, she would like to keep ventriloquism alive because it is not very common.

Before AGT, Darci had appeared on Little Big Shots and Little Big Shots UK.

Darci's parents are Clark and Misty Farmer. She has three brothers Nate, Dalton and Nick. Nick is the oldest and attends the University of Oklahoma. Dalton is in high school. Her youngest sibling is Nate. [1]

Audition[]

Darci Lynne's audition in Episode 1201 consisted of singing George Gershwin's "Summertime" in ventriloquism through her rabbit puppet, Petunia. Moved by her performance, Mel B pressed her Golden Buzzer to send Darci straight to the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals[]

Darci Lynne's Week 1 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1211 consisted of singing The Jackson 5's "Who's Lovin' You" in ventriloquism through her mouse puppet, Oscar. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations. Darci received enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1212 along with Angelica Hale.

Semifinals[]

Darci Lynne's Week 1 Semifinals performance in Episode 1217 consisted of singing Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" in ventriloquism through her puppet Edna Doorknocker. Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Heidi Klum gave her standing ovations. Darci received enough votes to advance to the Finals in Episode 1218 instead of Mike Yung.

Finals[]

Darci Lynne's Finals performance in Episode 1221 consisted of singing The Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" in ventriloquism through her puppets Oscar and Petunia. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations.

Finale[]

For the finale in Episode 1222, Darci sang "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun through her puppet Petunia with Terry Fator through his puppet Winston. Darci tripped over the first line of the song, but recovered and continued. Darci received enough votes to advance to the top 5 instead of Preacher Lawson. She was announced as the winner of Season 12 ahead of Angelica Hale, Light Balance, Mandy Harvey and Sara and Hero, winning $1 million and the headlining of a show in Las Vegas.

After the Show[]

Darci Lynne returned as a guest performer in Episode 1312 and sang "Show Off" from The Drowsy Chaperone in ventriloquism through her puppet Petunia.  Darci and Petunia returned in Episode 1418 singing "It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World" dedicated to her season-mate Preacher Lawson.  She also performed in Episode 1512, singing Justin Bieber's "Baby" with her new puppet, Ivan.

She made another guest appearance in Episode 1610 singing "Let The Good Times Roll" with her puppet Oscar. Additionally in 2022, Darci Lynne played Brooke Mays in the film “A Cowgirl’s Song”. She made another guest appearance alongside her puppet Petunia returned in Episode 1721 alongside fellow winner Terry Fator to perform with Celia Muñoz.

The Champions Preliminary[]

Darci Lynne returned for The Champions. Her Preliminary performance in Episode TC02 consisted of singing Tina Turner's "Nutbush City Limits" and "Proud Mary" with her puppet, Oscar. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations.  It was revealed that the superfans voted Darci into the top 3 along with Cristina Ramos and Courtney Hadwin.  She received more votes than Courtney, but received fewer votes than Cristina, eliminating her from the competition. However she was chosen as one of two wildcard acts, sending her to the final.

The Champions Final[]

Darci returned to the Finals as a wild card. Her performance in Episode TC06 consisted of singing "O mio babbino caro" with her puppet, Petunia.  Howie MandelMel BHeidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations.

The Champions Finale[]

For the finale in Episode TC07, Darci Lynne sang "Can’t Smile Without You" by Barry Manilow with her puppet, Edna, and Rowlf the Dog. The superfans gave her enough votes to enter the Top 5 instead of Susan Boyle and Jon Dorenbos. Darci finished the competition in 2nd place, ahead of Kseniya Simonova, Cristina Ramos and Preacher Lawson, but behind Shin Lim.

Darci Lynne was nominated as one of the top 40 acts, sending her through to the Draft Pool.

Darci Lynne’s preliminary performance in Episode FL04 consisted of singing Kiki Dee's "I've Got The Music in Me" with her puppet Petunia before changing it up to a rock version while playing the electric guitar. Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell gave her standing ovations. She received enough votes to advance to the Semifinals along with Aidan Bryant instead of Brian Justin Crum.

Fantasy League Semifinals[]

Darci Lynne's Semifinal performance in Episode FL06 consisted of singing her original song "Push Our Luck" without her puppets. Heidi Klum gave her a standing ovation. She did not receive enough votes to enter the top 3 of the night, eliminating her from the competition.

  • Darci is the third ventriloquist to win the series, and the second in two years.
  • Darci Lynne was the third ventriloquist to win America's Got Talent. The first to win was Terry Fator, and the second was Paul Zerdin.
  • She, along with Grace VanderWaal, are the second-youngest winners (both were age 12) of the show with Bianca Ryan being the youngest (age 11).
  • She is the third (consecutive) winning Golden Buzzer act.
  • She is the second (consecutive) winning Golden Buzzer act that was given by a main judge in the audition round.
  • She is the second singing ventriloquist to win, after Terry Fator in Season 2.
