Doogie Horner was a comedian from Season 5 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the Quarterfinals, but he returned for the Wild Card Show, where he was eliminated again.

Background[]

Doogie Horner is a standup comedian who lives in Philadelphia with his wife and dog. He studied graphic design at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, and began doing comedy in 2006. He has performed in hoagie shops, basements, and corporate holiday parties. Since there were very few alternative venues for young comics in the city, in 2008 Horner formed a monthly comedy show called the Ministry of Secret Jokes. The Ministry quickly established a reputation for unique shows that employed unconventional entertainment such as rap battles, student body elections, and Dungeons and Dragons style debates.

Recently Horner's standup has gained notoriety; he performed at the Boston Comedy Festival, and was one of the top eight finalists at Philly's Funniest Competition. He was named the fourth funniest comedian in Philadelphia by comedy.com. When he's not busy alienating crowds, he works as a Graphic Designer and designs book covers at a small publishing company in Philadelphia. His eye-catching cover for "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" helped propel the book to the New York Times bestseller status, and won Amazon's Cover of the Year Award for 2010. 1

Audition[]

Doogie Horner's audition in Episode 503 consisted of telling jokes about pregnant women, wanting to be an eagle for "sexual" reasons, and about being famous, and then threatening and heckling the audience when they harshly booed him. By the end of his performance however, a majority of the audience had switched to cheering him. Piers Morgan buzzed the act. Although Piers voted "No," Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel both voted "Yes," sending Doogie to the Vegas Round.

Vegas Round[]

Doogie Horner was one of the Judges' Favorites in the Vegas Round. He was sorted into the "Comedians" category. His performance in Episode 511 consisted of joking about discrimination stemming from his having a beard. His audition was strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals instead of Mrs. Hughes.

Quarterfinals[]

Doogie Horner's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 519 consisted of joking about adding "pointless" special effects, cockroaches, hating talking to new people (babies), the Great White Shark's subtle racism, and being a misogynist. He did not receive enough votes to finish in at least fourth or fifth place in America's Vote, eliminating him from the competition in Episode 520 along with Mary Ellen, instead of MURRAY.

Wild Card[]

Doogie Horner was brought back by Piers Morgan for the Wild Card Show. His performance in Episode 523 consisted of joking about other acts in the competition including Future Funk, Chipps Cooney, Fighting Gravity, CJ Dippa, Haspop, and Prince Poppycock, as well as jokes about his America's Got Talent experience. He did not receive enough votes to be sent to the Semifinals, finishing 6th that night. Eliminating him from the competition in Episode 524.
