Hannibal Means was a singer from Season 5 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the Quarterfinals.

Background[]

Hannibal Means is an internationally renowned musician, vocalist and teacher. Born and raised in Oakland, California, he is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships from an early age. His mother claimed he first sang when he was only three months old. Hannibal flourished as Nina Simone’s protégé, eventually settling in Vienna, Austria for 27 years singing and studying with some of the great vocal masters of Europe. In Vienna, he also taught singing and breathing to the midwives and expectant mothers. 1

In addition to his role as a highly respected voice teacher among the Viennese, he also gives workshops throughout the world, during which he invites participants to discover The Self through experiencing The Voice. A safe and sacred space is created and participants can open to their own voices from the deepest parts of their being.

As a teacher, Hannibal empowers his students to discover the feelings and sounds of their unique and true voices, which may very well be, for some, a golden portal of opportunity for profound healing, as well as a key for moving blocked energies, thus allowing, creative self-expression, and most of all, fun. 1

Audition[]

Hannibal Means's audition in Episode 501 consisted of singing "Hallelujah" while playing the piano. Piers Morgan buzzed the act. Although Piers voted "No," Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel both voted "Yes," sending Hannibal to the Vegas Round.








Vegas Round[]

Hannibal Means was one of the Judges' Favorites in the Vegas Round. He was sorted into the "Classical Singers" category. His performance in Episode 511 consisted of singing Lucio Dalla's "Caruso." His audition was strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals along with Prince Poppycock.















Quarterfinals[]

Hannibal Means's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 515 consisted of singing "Circle of Life." Hannibal did not receive enough votes to finish in at least fifth place in America's Vote, eliminating him from the competition in Episode 516.

Death[]

Hannibal passed away on February 10th 2021. [1]
