Maricar was born in Manila, Philippines, on October 30, 1971. She immigrated to the U.S. in July of 1979 when she was seven years old. She spent most of her life in Los Angeles, California, where she currently resides. She grew up with her single mother and five siblings on welfare. She has been drawing, painting and sculpting ever since she can remember. Her love for art started when she was about 5 years old when all she got for her birthday was a card with a pretty picture on it. She loves to paint and draw and has always dreamt that her artwork would someday payoff and help give back to her family. She makes all of her costumes and props, and her idea of a good time on a Friday night is at the local arts and crafts store. Maricar graduated with a B.A in Psychology from Cal State San Bernardino and an A.A in Business from Chaffey College. She currently makes a living as a tattoo artist to support herself and her 14-year-old son. 1
Maricar's audition in Episode 501 consisted of painting herself while burlesque dancing to "Don't Cha." Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel all voted "Yes," sending Maricar to the Vegas Round.
Maricar was one of the Judges' Favorites in the Vegas Round. She was sorted into the "Novelty Acts" category. Her performance in Episode 511 consisted of painting a portrait of herself in a devil-like suit to circus-themed music. Her audition was strong enough for the judges to send her to the Quarterfinals.
Maricar's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 513 consisted of painting a portrait of Piers Morgan on the wall of a filled water tank. She did not receive enough votes to finish in at least fifth place in America's Vote, eliminating her from the competition in Episode 514 along with The Hot Shot Tap Dancers, instead of Christina & Ali.
