Team iLuminate was a dance group using iLuminate technology which enables the wearer to light up on command. They were on Season 6 of America's Got Talent. It finished in third place in the competition.

Background[]

Miral Kotb created iLuminate when she united her background in dance and software engineering. She received a degree in Computer Science from Columbia University while studying dance at Barnard College. Upon graduation she worked as a senior software engineer at Bloomberg, LP, then entered the world of mobile application development. As a dancer/choreographer her work has been presented at different venues throughout New York City, London and Paris. 1

Audition[]

Team iLuminate's audition in Episode 601 consisted of dancing in the dark while wearing suits that light up in the dark to Black Eyed Peas' "Rock That Body." Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel all voted "Yes," sending it to the Vegas Round.

Vegas Round[]

Team iLuminate was one of ten acts that pleased the judges so much they went straight to Hollywood without performing in Las Vegas in Episode 611.

Quarterfinals[]

Team iLuminate's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 619 consisted of dancing in the dark while wearing suits that light up in the dark with an alien theme to "E.T." The act received enough votes to send it to the Semifinals in Episode 620 instead of Sam B and Scott Alexander.

Semifinals[]

Team iLuminate's Semifinals performance in Episode 625 consisted of dancing in the dark while wearing suits that light up in the dark with a video game theme. The act received enough votes to send it to the Finals in Episode 626 instead of Matt Wilhelm, Sandou Trio Russian Bar, and Zuma Zuma.

Top 10[]

Team iLuminate's Top 10 Finals performance in Episode 629 consisted of dancing in the dark while wearing suits that light up in the dark with a "geometry" theme to "Thunder" by Nuttin' But Stringz, an act that competed in Season 3. It was the first performance in which the creator of the iLuminate technology danced along with the rest of the group. The act received enough votes to send it to the Final 4 in Episode 630 instead of Smage Bros. Riding Shows.

Final 4[]

Team iLuminate's Final 4 Finals performance in Episode 631 consisted of dancing in the dark while wearing suits that light up in the dark with a "large-scale" theme to "Feel So Close."

Finale[]

For the finale in Episode 632, Team iLuminate danced in the dark while wearing suits that light up in the dark in a duet with Cobra Starship performing "You Make Me Feel....". . They were revealed to have finished in third place in the competition that same night, over POPLYFE, but under Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and the Silhouettes.

After the Show[]

Team iLuminate returned to guest perform on Season 8 and Season 11 of America's Got Talent. They later appeared on The Voice Season 17 finale, performing for guest performers The Black-Eyed Peas and J Balvin performing “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)”.

Trivia[]

  • Team iLuminate followed the same pattern as Fighting Gravity and Light Balance. Their acts all involved them being in the dark dancing, they all skipped the second round and went straight into the Quarterfinals, and all got third place.
  • The music in the video recapping Team iLuminate's and Fighting Gravity's progress on the show is the same, Forever, by Chris Brown.
