|The Strange Familiar|
|Age (at audition)||27|
After growing up in the same small town of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, husband Jeff and wife Kira found their passion for music. In the 8th grade Kira requested to be the lead singer in Jeff's band. After an impromptu audition on the playground, Jeff asked her to join. Over the next 10 years they continued to write songs and perform hundreds of gigs throughout the midwest. The Strange Familiar formed in 2006 when the couple met bassist, Frank Freeman, at a local gig. They soon moved to Los Angeles where they caught up with an old friend from Ohio, Nicholas Sainato. He then became the drummer and completed the lineup. Struggling to make ends meet, the band recorded an EP and took another step toward their dream when they auditioned for America's Got Talent. 1
The Strange Familiar's audition in Episode 507 consisted of one member singing "I'll Stand By You" while playing the keyboard while the other member played the guitar. Howie Mandel and at least one other judge voted "Yes," sending the act to the Vegas Round.
The Strange Familiar was one of the Standby Acts in the Vegas Round. It was sorted into the "Bands" category. Its performance in Episode 512 consisted of performing "Have a Little Faith in Me." Its audition was strong enough for the judges to send it to the Quarterfinals along with Iron Horse.
The Strange Familiar's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 517 consisted of riding performing "Time After Time." It did not receive enough votes to finish in at least fourth or fifth place in America's Vote, eliminating it from the competition in Episode 518 along with Luigi, instead of Debra Romer.
